Read and Reflect

How do you currently apply this strategy, with or without the use of technology?

I do not use similarities and differences as much as I probably should. I teach technology classes so it is hard to find comparisons with things that we do. The one area I use this is when trying to demonstrate to students the different file types and programs that we use. This allows them to see why we would select to use one program or file type over another. For the most part though, I fall short in using this.

What new insights or ideas did you gain from the reading?

I need to take more time to allow students to explore the topics and to compare them to previous knowledge. I have been so focused on getting through the material that I have let this go by the wayside. Reading this shows me that while it can take time, it is important in the end so that my students really understand the material.

How might you use this tool in your classroom?

I am going to use this next week for the Senior Final exam project. I am going to have them brainstorm using this site so that their classmates can see the thought process behind what they are going to do. For Business Law II, they students have to teach a lesson based on something they have learned in the last 2 semesters. I am also going to use this for Marketing as they explore different ways that marketing is used by different businesses! I am so excited. Look for examples on my wiki once the students get going!
